I have a G27 that I carry in the winter but have always had an attraction to the G23. Is there that big of a difference between the two guns to justify owning both? I have a G19 and it doesn't feel anything like the G27. Even when the G27 has a pearce extension.

I had a G22 and wanted a G27 because it was more concealable, but still couldn't justify having BOTH, so I traded my old full size for the newer, smaller gun.

with a little practice the subcompact will do everything the g22 did and more. A friend told me last night "you don't SELL guns, just buy 'em." He's entitled to his opinion. I'm just not a collector.

I am, however getting an ISSC M22 so I can practice cheaper. To me, THAT's justification!

I would consider a 22 to compliment a 27. You have the compact thing covered, now get a full-sized, full capacity lead slinger.
Right, CAPACITY! Still...... You can always carry a full sized back up mag.

edit: IMHO

i have both the 23 and 27 and they are the pefrect combo. i had the 23 first and also wondered if the 27 was worth having until i bought one. in all of my years of gunpurchases buying that combo was the best thing i have ever done. the next best buy was buying a 357sig barrel and a 9mm barrel for the 23.

+1, what 1canvas said. I love both these pistols. When I bought the 27, I was looking at the 23, but decided on the 27. Finally, I got the 23 as well, and I'm now fulfilled.

The G23 is the best Glock out there for it's size, weight, caliber and capacity. I carry my 3rd Gen G23 everywhere I go 24/7:wavey:
totally agree with you...that being said, i had the itch for a sub compact, and once i purchased the 27, i have not carried the 23...i still shoot the 23 at the range from time to time, but the 27 is my go to piece....

New to the forum, Being a LEO Officer, I've got a little experience with Glocks. Started with a G19 then went to the G23. I currently carry a G22, which I prefer over the 23 or 19. More room for the fingers in the finger grooves. I now have a G27 Gen 4 for off duty carry. I just feel cramped with the small grooves on the compact 23 and 19. G27 only has two grooves but they fit the two fingers well.

I've never over a 23 or 27 however, I do own a 19 and 26. Love em both! 19, night stand gun, and 26 carry gun. Both have their rightful place.

I do agree with your friend tho, I HATE getting rid of guns for anything.

I may be crazy, but I just ordered a Gen 4 23, and already have a gen3 23.

I almost went with the gen4 27, but love the "perfect compromise" of size/caliber/capacity of the 23--and just HAD to get a gen 4:whistling:.

I can see trading the gen 3 23 toward a gen 4 27 sooner or later...

Well I don't get this whole selling or trading a Glock thing....maybe a 1911 but not a Glock.

Whether or not you can justify it is totally up to you and your bank account, I certainly would be able to justify both. If the place to put your pinky makes a big difference than it might be the answer, if you're going to lose the 27 in the process remember you can make a 27 bigger, you can't make a 23 smaller.
