I went to a Coosa Range today to try out branch new Glock 19 RTF2 and 23 RTF2...

G19 shot perfect 100 rounds.

G23 shot 200 rounds of Winchester ammo. Had G23 malfunction six times. See photos... can you tell me what's wrong with it?

This type of malfunction is the worst, because (1) I had to lock the slide to the rear, (2) remove the mag, (3) clear the shell casing. One would get shot dead by this time.

Gen 3 23's don't come with dual recoil spring from the factory.

Although your 23 should digest anything you feed it, I'd try some different ammo.

Winchester ammo most likely is the culprit.

I just got 4 FTE out of 300 with WWB 9mm in my G23 with LW 40-9 barrel yesterday. The 200 PMC didn't cause any problems though.

It looks like your ejector is missing. I can't tell though from the pictures. That would be a good cause for a double feed.

G23 RTF2 has the same Gen 3 single spring. Extractor and ejector both look good.

Interesting to note is that only one particular magazine is having the FTE issue. I will have to shoot some more to confirm this.

You have a phase three and an FTEject. Hmm, might be the extractor, and magazine. The newest magazines for the G23 should have a #8 follower and a #2 in the lower right hand corner of the magazine body. I'd check with Glock. They should be able to help you. My G23 had problems with some new magazines. It is flawless with my other magazines.

There is something not right with your extractor. Send it to Glock and have it serviced.

My G23 RTF2 also had some issues in it's first range trip 75 rounds. I attribute it to shooters performance on this new gun and need of brake in of the 23. Second/third trip, flawless with OEM magazines. I had some failure with a 33 rds Korean mag I was trying out.

Some of the .40 magazines with #8 followers and either a "1" or "no number" next to the Glock logo on the rear of the magazine, some people reported that there was excess plastic under the front of the feed lips, but I don't know how that would cause failures to extract or eject. But if you know only one magazine is giving you problems, try shooting out of other magazines only and if you experience no more malfunctions, you'll know the magazine was indeed the issue.

There have been a few instances of tight extractors where I assume the extractor just doesn't meet the specs, and once changed out with a new one the gun functions fine.

I'm not a Glock Armorer, but from a 2002 copy of the Glock Armorer's Manual:
Failure to Extract:
Exctractor worn/broken/missing - replace extractor
Overpowered or underpowered ammunition - change ammunition
Dirt under extractor claw - clean extractor and check function
Dirty chamber - clean
Shooting with an unlocked wrist - lock wrist
Failure to Eject/Erratic Ejection(including stovepipes):
Broken or damaged ejector - replace trigger housing mechanism with ejector
Underpowered ammo - change ammo
Dirty chamber - clean
Shooting with an unlocked wrist - lock wrist
Lack of lubrication - lubricate according to the instruction manual
Dirty gun - clean
