It seems the more posts I read here and on other forums that the G23 is more popular than the other compact models. I remember when everyone had or wanted the G19, but the tide seems to be shifting.

I assume it is because of the .40 being more powerful. What do you think?

Probably more 19's than 23's, but there are a lot (including mine) of 23's in the world today.

Yes, I agree with the .40 being more powerful but also with the G23 you can shot several calibers with it, the .357sig, and the 9mm all with out changing anything other than the barrels out.... so it makes a great platform for lots of choices, I love my Gen4 G23 its a great duty weapon and CCW... very well balanced...

I agree there are probably more 19's out there, but it seems to me that the 23's are gaining in popularity.

It could be that I am just partial. :)

I agree here. The caliber switching is my main reason for going with a 22 > a 17...

I got a brand new Gen4 23 i would trade for a new Gen3 19 as i got 3 40 calibers and would like a 9mm but i am sure a gun shop would want money to trade even though its never been shot.

I have bought no G19's and yet two G23's. Will end up with a G19 eventually, but I love the way the g23 shoots. I dont care if I never get another Glock as long as I have my 23.

Just get a LWD 40-9 conversion barrel for $110 and you have a Glock 19... That's what I did.

I have a 19 and a 23 and I love them both. My 19 will always be my first love though, but it was also my first Glock.

My 23 was my first Glock and probably my fav. I rather have the 23 just because if i ever had the desire to have a 9mm i could.

Even though it's a closely guarded secret Glock has said the amount of Glock 17's, 19's and 22's are all pretty close to being the same. I don't know if this was world wide but I think he was talking as far as what's been produced. I do know the Glock 19 and the Glock 22 they say are by far the most common Handgun they have sold for Police/military

I don't think so. I think the G19 is the more popular one. The real factor is ammo cost. 9mm is a bit cheaper.

About a month ago I went in to my LGS to get a new Gen3 Glock 19. I already had a 21, 26, and 20... Then I realized, what was I looking for? The 21 and 20 are too hefty for EDC, and are restricted to home defense/range blasters. I love my 26 and carry it often, but did I really need a mid-size 9mm? I did some research on the Glock 23 Gen4 and found the new recoil spring interesting, as well as the fact I could switch between .40, 9mm, and .357sig, all in the same package as a Glock 19... Plus the .40 bridges the gap between 9mm and .45 for carry. I bought the Gen4 23 and two weeks later got a LWD 40-9 barrel and a few 9mm mags...

1,000 rounds of .40 and 200 rounds of 9mm later, I'm very content with my decision. Next up is a .357sig barrel to make it 3-guns-in-1. Although my eyes are always open for a clean Glock 19 to add to the lineup. ;)

The 19 is obviously more popular and has been for decades. The tides only seem to be shifting because lately GT was on a 23 rave. I've hopped on the .40s&w bandwagon as well. :D

I think the 19 still sells more. The 9mm is uber-popular among civilians.

I like the 19 because of the cost of ammo. More practice for my $$. That said, the 23 is on my short list. Soon as my GSSF coupon arrives I'm gonna pick up a Gen 4 G23. I owned a gen 2 G22 and a Gen 2.5 G27 but sold them to raise funds for an AR I wanted. That AR is gone and I miss my 22 and 27. :brickwall:

Gotta love the 23. It is a Glock "Must Have".

I may have to look into the LWD 40-9 barrel. How is the reliability with it? Do you have to swap out the RSA?

I just dropped it in and use 9mm mags. 200 rounds, zero issues. Another 200 tomorrow. :)

I bought the 23 first, but will have a 17 or 19 someday. The 22 is also on my short list.
