If you were shopping for a new G23 for CCW would you purchase a Gen 3 or 4 and why?
I personally am sold on the Gen 4s (I've recently switched all my Glocks to them) as they just feel better in my hand. I've had zero issues with all of them through 20K rounds combined (including my 19. ) Obviously my vote would be for the Gen 4 23.
I vote Gen 3.
I forgot to mention. My EDCs are a Gen 4 19, 23 & 21.
I have a Gen.4 23, and love it to death. I use the medium grip and have zero problems.. I'm sure either one will do you proud. but the Gen.4 has a few perks..i.e. large mag. release, grip options, and I believe that you get an extra mag., as well. Good luck either way..
I CCW a Gen4 G23. I love it but I wouldn't hesitate to carry the Gen3 either. I just like the Gen4 grip better.
Gen 3 RTF2
Gen 3. The Gen 4 rubs me raw.
I say whatever one fits you better first, then whatever one you like better second.
I can't speak for the reliability of the gen 3 23 but my gen 4 Glock 22 has been flawless and I passed the 5,000 round mark long ago!
I've owned a Gen 3 and a Gen 4 and Love my gen 4. I carry it in a CBST and have had zero issues with it. I love the grip and I can feel the recoil reduction( not a huge reduction but its there).
Gen 4. I love my 23 RTF2 but my Gen 4 23 is amazing!!!
I have both the Gen 3 & 4, G23's and I have a very slight preference for my Gen 4 because of the grip size and feel. The difference for me is sort of like the taste of Coke a Cola on ice vs. on extra ice.
I've experienced only one FF incident with the Gen 3 after limp-wristing my first shot out of the box. I adjusted my grip and have not had any FF issues since.
