My new G23 will be here on Friday and I would like some info on what everyone likes in PD rounds. I know every gun likes different loads, but this would give me a good start.

Hmmm.. wouldn't you want to switch that around? I would think you would do better with the 165's in the g27... Doesn't the shorter barrel benefit from the higher velocity (due to the general speed loss of the smaller barrel)? I use the 165gd's in my g27 for that reason although I could be wrong... (Doubt it matters... They'll all do what they have to).

Yes, but the snappier ammo in the smaller gun can be more difficult to control, affecting accuracy. Personally, I love these threads... People act like if they don't carry the latest whiz bang, they have no chance. In the end, all handgun rounds suck. Most rounds in a given cailber, perform in a similar enough manner, that minor differences between manufacturers, is not going to make a difference. PLACEMENT IS KEY! You place it where it needs to go, it's not gonna matter if its a 135gr super fast JHP, or a 180gr super slow JHP.

I've saw this list posted numerous times, and I'm curious "why" its the best? The author offers no supporting data whatsoever. Personally, I think that list is ridiculous(and no I'm not butt hurt because my carry ammo isn't on the list, it is). If anything, the picture of the jello shooting proves there's very little differences in the calibers of carry ammo.

The ones on the list were personally tested by Dr. Roberts (who does ballistics tests for various law enforcement agencies) as meeting the criteria required by the FBI. That is, at least 12" penetration as well as reliable expansion through heavy clothing. It's not the end all be all since there are many loads he just hasn't tested yet.
