Has anyone with the conversion barrels (or even stock glock 17 9mm barrel) installed the G17 ejector into their G22 and shoot .40 cal without any problems?

I'm curious of what that little bend in the G17 ejector would do to the .40 cal shells.

It will work. I have a G17 and an extra G22 slide assembly. I just swap out the uppers and I can shoot either 9mm or the .40. However, the only concern I have is if I want to eject a live .40 caliber round (forcefully), the bent ejector might hit the primer hard enough to ignite the round. hmmmm....Try shooting 9mm with the G22 ejector, I bet it will work too (but the ejection of the 9mm brass will not be too energetic).

Now that's scary. Are the G17/22 frames 100% identical? Leaving the only differences in the slide assemblies?

Yes they are identical aside from the slides magazines and ejectors.

Oh, my GOD! One of these days someone is going to get injured due to the miss-information provided here on Glocktalk.

First of all, the ejectors: The danger in using a 9mm ejector for .40 caliber ammo is that when extracting a live round, the angled 9mm ejector might hit the primer, setting off the round. This is because instead of sliding under the smaller 9mm casing, the ejector may snag on the wider .40 casing, sending it's tip towards the primer.

Frames: Gen1 and Gen2 G17 frames cannot be used for .40's. Only 3-pin Gen3 frames are identical to the G22 frames (except for the ejector). Not all Gen3 G17 frames are 3-pin.

I guess I'll stick with the G22 ejector for both calibers and if it does become a problem with the 9mm, I'll just toss in the G17 ejector for use with the 9mm rounds only.
