I have a21SF with the ambi-safety and my old 21mags don't fit. No problem as I have newer mags that do.

The reason for the post is to find out how long did the ambi 21's stay in production before they were changed because of complaints about the old mags not fittng and trigger fingers rubbing on the right side mag release?

That's not why they were discontinued. There were many cases of the magazine release becoming stiff, losing tension and getting stuck in the inward position, and even falling apart and falling out of the gun.

All I was going by was what I was told by several people.
Any idea how long or how many were produced?

According to the Serial Number Research Project Thread:
    http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1287557

The first one was reported with a test-fire date of Feb 2007. Then somewhere around Oct 2008 they were being offered with both the standard mag release and ambi, and in Jan 2009 it seems that was the last reported ambi model. Though the serial number thread hasn't been updated for a little over a year, there could've been ambi models made after Jan 2009.

There was one ambi model which had a picatinny rail, and another ambi model which had a standard Glock rail.

You could get a standard frame and turn in your ambi frame, for a price...

I heard, but do not know for certain, that Glock, Smyrna was replacing any ambi frame sent to them with a new standard (3rd gen.) frame. Might be worth your time to phone and ask.
