Anybody else have one? I picked mine up from Ed's Public Safety a couple years ago.

I understand there is a story behind them but don't know exactly what it is.

The story: There were not a lot of these made. Some consider it to be one of the holy Grails of glock because of the scarcity lol besides it being an rtf2, the G21 SF is highly desireable in the first place...

Some trivia was mentioned in my last Glock recert class ...

The RTF was originally developed in response to a Spec Ops request to make the guns less slippery for gloved shooters. (Discontinued option) It wasn't stated who/what/where/how many examples may have been made, or used, for the actual original purpose.

    There were only 2,500 G21 RTF2's produced.

FWIW, they also said that only 3,000 "Fish Gill" G19/23's were made.

They didn't say (and none of us were interested enough in RTF's to ask, apparently) if there was a breakdown of the 2,500 figure between 'standard' and SF RTF models. Reading between the lines, it seemed the RTF wasn't getting the traction they desired for sales, so it was pretty quickly discontinued.

The G21SF with M1913 (Picatinny) rail & ambi mag catch assembly was another discontinued 21 model. I've got an ambi mag catch assembly sent to me by mistake (wrong parts for a repair) which I hope I never have to use.

I was looking for an RTF model when I bought my 21SF. Couldn't find one so I just stippled it...

THAT. And then an elite Federal "SWAT" sort of team asked for the RTF2 to be applied to G21 SF's. Arkansas State Patrol just ordered them later. If I am to believe my "deep throat" source. ;)

I have one and I love it. It was a overun order from the Arkansas State police I believe.

    Got one. Love it.
Love the rtf2. Had the G19&17 rtf2 and was going to buy a g21.
Found out ED's had them and ordered a year or 2 ago.
    Want a G23 rtf2 with gills.

It wouldn't surprise me. They just mentioned the origin of the RTF in passing, without going into much detail about any followup requests. It just sounded like the lack of orders and demand for it resulted in it being discontinued for general production.

Rumor has it that Ed's Public Safety has some police trade in 21RTF's inbound in the next couple of months.

I found 3 G23 RTF2's with "Gills" this week and 1 G22 RTF2 with "Gills" also. Bought all 4. They have a couple more, but my wallet doesn't want to open anymore...............

I have the G21SF RTF2 and love it ! I was told the same story about a special run of 2500 for LEOs. I got mine 3rd hand from an individual that got it from an LEO. I have since changed out the extended mag release to stock, could not carry it in a Kydex holster and I kept accidently dropping the mag. In the pic you can see the mag is disengaged.

Tell him that if he really wanted a rare one, he should have grabbed a G22C RTF2 with gills. :wavey:
