I want to put a 6 inch barrel and slide on my stock G20. I am looking for opinions and recommendations from those that have already done this.
    Thanks

    Definitely! You will love it.
I went with a "Tactical length" slide for my G20SF because "I had to have it now!"......you know, an instant gratification moment. I also went with a 6" barrel. I love this setup, it works great. It really adds to the "pointability" factor and increases the sight radius while adding horse power with the 6" barrel.

Now of course, I want a long slide! I think since I already have the Tactical length setup for my G20 and conversion barrels, now I will build up a G21 long slide so I can shoot .45 ACP, 40 super and 400 corbon. This way I will be able to shoot about 7 different calibers with two top ends and one frame.

Go for the long slide, you won't regret it and if you have to wait due to a "back order" it is well worth the wait!

Here's some pics of my current setup and Holsters Plus Longslide Holster:

    Sorry! :)
That is a Holsters Plus level 3 retention holster. I was lucky and got one of the first prototype longslide holsters. Pretty sweet.

Nike said it best. " Just Do It "
How can you not be happy with a longer sight radius and an increase in velocity?:dunno: Unless your trying to conceal it.
Speaking in pistol length barrels. The longer the barrel, the more time the projectile has to build up pressure which will increase velocity. The longer the rifled path, the more time it has to stabilize increasing performance all around. It seems to be the norm for most pistol cartridges to gain approx. 100fps. per each additional inch of barrel. ( ROUGHLY ). If LWD would have offered an 8" slide and barrel I would have bought it for my G21 .40 Super. I'd like to put a 6" slide/barrel combo on a G32. Anyone done this? If so, pics and range report please.

Ah, that's already been shown off too much  don't want to be hi-jacking any threads here!

But, here are the links to the 20 and 21 long slides, I think they are on back order at the moment but should be back in stock soon:

I have the 6" (Glock brand) hunting barrel for my G20 and I also have a chronograph. The velocity difference using 165 grain Double Tap loads is only about 40 FPS, but with Blazer or Federal target ammo, it's usually about 60 FPS. Not as much as I had hoped, but I still like the the long barrel anyway, just for the increase in coolness factor.

Even though there isn't a HUGE difference in speed, you would think that the longer the bullet stayed in the barrel, building up pressure, the more stable the bullet would become. Up to a point, of course.

Thanx for the input. I guess its still the norm to exaggerate performance numbers. Does anyone tell the truth anymore?:dunno:

Does Double Tap tell you the powders they use in any given ammo? It looks like their 10 mil ammo is the least effected by barrel length then most of the other calibers.

They only say it is a custom blended powder made specificly to their specifications.

I've always been happy with the loads Double Tap puts out. Works for me :)
Besides, they are the type of people who will gladly make it right if you aren't satisfied.
Call them and ask for either Mike the owner or his brother Rhett. They will take care of you.

    This ...

    Same experience here.

McNett's done more to promote true, high-performance 10mm ammunition and to foster this cartridge's resurgence in the last decade, than all his detractors combined have ever done for any other handgun round.

Do they offer any custom orders? I buy my .40 super ammo from them but all they offer is hp's. I'd like to get some round nose stuff, but only if it is cheaper.
