Is it necessary to get a, I don't know what you call them, a gap-filler for the length of the G19 mag that extends from the mag well when using it in a G26? Will I warp or otherwise damage it by using the exposed mag as part of my grip? Thanks in advance.

Probably a good idea. Others have experienced feeding problems when using the longer mags, supposedly because gripping the "bare" mag twists or cocks it slightly. A mag sleeve provides support for it.

I used to run 33rd mags in my G26 and never had a problem - never owned a sleeve for any mag, regardless of length. But, if you like to accessorize, go for it!

G19 mags are my spare back up mags since 2004 in my G26 and never had a problem with it.
You can use any 9mm mag in your G26 and it won't damage a thing.
Go for it you don't need the sleeve (space filler).
