Sent my G19 Gen 4 back to Glock on Sept. 26, using THEIR shipping label, to correct occasional casings back at the head. (I had previously putzed around with both the extractor AND the ejector, each time zeroing in on the magic 'tweak') When I saw on GT that they'd changed the ejector design, I figured I'd paid for it to work, let THEM putz with it.
FEDEX came today, two weeks to the day, and returned it to my doorstep, right after I returned from the range shooting my G34. Back to the range again... twice in one day, without having to go to work, life doesn't get much better!
Yes, it did. The G19 did not miss a beat, throws Federal Champion 115 gr. empties about 8 feet to the side @ 4 o'clock. Winchester 147 gr. JHP about the same, and Speer Lawman 124gr. +P just a little further, but recoil was as soft as the Federal stuff.
My reloads (4.6 gr Bullseye, 115gr. plated bullet) gave me fits in the G19 and the G34, but that seems to be a crimp issue causing the soft bullet to bulge just forward of the crimp. Stuck a few rounds in the chamber and had to rest the front corner of the slide on the bench, muzzle pointed downrange, and SMACK the pi$$ out of the lower. Round popped out, and the matte finish slide I thought would have a nasty rub-raw. Nope, wipes right off. :wow:
I also got to shoot groups , both rested and offhand, with each grip strap and settled on the Large as the best fit for my hand. Groups with no inset were about the same as my Gen 2 G19, the Medium insert was no different. Adding the Large insert and the groups tightened up; and oddly it did not feel much better to my hand, but the targets did't lie.
Performance-wise and customer-service wise, Glock has it nailed; they treated ME right with a quick turnaround, and they ate the shipping. Should I have had to send it back,... no. But its not the first gun I've had to and it was the best return experience I've had. (Worst has been Ohio Rapidfire...F------)
What did they do? New extractor and extractor spring assembly. The extractor is the 'dipped' profile LCI type, but the casting seems MUCH more precise, drops freely out of its slot and it has a '2' on the end of the nub. The ejector is changed from the '336' to the newest number. They replaced the connector to the '.' version. They also changed my return spring assembly (from 0-4 to 0-4-3),trigger spring and firing pin safety spring, and put the Ghost parts in a bag in the GLOCKBOX. It came back cleaned and oiled.
Overall, I think the Gen4 is well on its way to being another legendary product as it was intended and expected.
