I was at work this morning and missed the delivery the first time, so I picked it up later on at the FedEx office this evening. Well, I posted many range reports stating my issues I was having, and explained how I felt. Let's just say it was having really erratic ejection, and frequent stovepipes(4 out of 575).

I opened it tonight and was hoping they would have installed the new ejector, but they didn't. But I was VERY happy to see they installed a non-MIM extractor. It has a smooth top, no dip or dimples at all, it doesn't have as noticeable mold marks as the first, and it just fell right out of the slide with no force. It is a very nice fit. Along with an all new trigger bar, and a new striker safety plunger. The trigger bar and plunger looks the same, just new.

In the short and vague letter inside with the pistol it stated word for word:

Inspected
Upgrade
Meets factory specs
Tested OK.

So, I still need to take it to the range a run A LOT of the exact same ammo through it and see what happens. I am very anxious to see how it shoots. I am confident that Glock has made it right with the "new and improved" extractor.

I also need to state, that I shipped it to them on 9-20. They received it the next day, but, it didn't show up in their system until 9-23. It was finished and shipped out back to me on 9-29. That means it only took 6 days of the 6 weeks they said it would take. I think that is incredible customer service, and very fast work on the armorers part. I am so far very satisfied with how fast they made this happen.

Now for the range report. I will keep everyone posted on how it shoots. It will be later this week when I am able to get to the range.

Yea I know. I am calling tomarow to get the details on exactly what they did. It is obvious that its a new extractor, but, I want to make sure they test fired it because it had NO residue in the barrel when I got it back. I don't know if they ran a patch through it(I doubt it), or if they just assumed it was "ok" and didn't test fire it. I am calling first thing after work tomarow.

That's very interesting... Maybe they got pissed at the outsourced MIMing, for a spike in returns and a hit to their reputation.

If they go to machining them, I will definitely pick one up just to have as a spare.

Thanks for the information.

My g4 19 got there this am so I am hoping for a quick turnaround and the gun to run like all my other glocks when I get it back.

Keep us posted on your results.
Good luck. I think they will install the new ejector for you considering you have a gen 4.

I should be going to the range tomorrow, and I will make sure to give a detailed range report ASAP.

I just looked at the new extractor and realized it has the same 5 degree angle that the LWD .40 has. I guess glock realized lone wolf made a good mistake when they mixed up their extractors.

Edit: It looks like it has the 5 degree angle on the lip. I need a picture of the .40 LWD extractor to compare to mine. Thanks.

Got my Gen4 G19 back today after just 18 days. New ejector and new extractor. The extractor appears to be MIM, but fits MUCH better than the one the pistol came with prior to me polishing it. Tomorrow's range day so I'm excited to give it a thorough testing, but it looks like Glock got it right.

Could it be a MIM extractor that is simply better made?
It certainly could be, is my reaction, to that.

Glock has been using cast locking blocks, forever. I can't tell by eyeball if they are cast or MIM. They seem to hold up pretty well.

I keep pointing out that the Glock frame is PIM, but nobody seems to care about the receiver, the part with the S/N.

It could be MIM. It looks VERY clean and smooth without the dip on the top. This is why I assumed.it was not MIM.

If it is MIM, they did a great job because this one looks more like the LWD then the OEM extractor. I can't wait to get to the range.

Glock has accidentally sent the wrong extractor to Armorers before, but seeing that yours was handled personally as a Warranty case I doubt it's a mistake. When I saw with my own Glocks how a 5 degree claw extractor acted on the spent casing compared to a parallel claw, that Glock had used the 5 degree claw on all other calibers but 9mm, and that the LWD extractor which was actually .40 was solving the issue for a lot of people in their 9mm Glocks, I wondered why Glock hadn't given the 9mm extractor a 5 degree claw or just used the .40 extractor for 9mm as well. I guess now they are.

Here's a comparison picture, 9mm parallel claw on top and .40 5 degree claw on bottom: http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17896871&postcount=1

Here are some comparison pictures, they're taken by SGT Duffman from thehighroad.org but I guess they got reposted everywhere. The pictures compare the "MIM dip" 9mm extractor to the LWD .40 extractor: http://www.ak47.net/forums/t_5_13/113943_.html
(in the second picture you can see the "4" marking on the LWD extractor in the area that the firing pin safety engages)

This is odd.. I have a G19 Gen4 test fired on May, I got this gun with very low round count no more than a box... the ejection on this gun is ok, at least.. no brass to face but is weaker that I would like... this gun I have never detailed striped the slide untill now, last week I got a NIB G19 Gen4 test fired first days of September, I was curious to see if any differences on slide parts and disassembled both... well.. the first G19 had an extractor marked "4" and the second NIB one had an extractor marked "3"

What is it with this..? may this be a mistake? well... here is a thread about it with Pics:
