2nd Gen and not early at all. 2 didgit sn G-19's first aa-zz then the AAA series of serial numbers before the BAA and on down the line numbers to BWN.
when did glock go to the 2nd. gen with finger grooves
With finger grooves is 3rd Gen.

The only original 1st-Gen. G-19s I'm aware of were a handful (I've heard 6 and I've heard 24) with serial number prefix of "DN".

You're G-19 with the stiple job probably does look like a 1st Gen. G19, but it's a later gun with a stiple job. At this point it is a shooter, so the question is, how does it shoot and how do you like the feel of the grip with that stiple job?
i like it a lot and it shoots real good and fits my hand very well.it didn't have finger grooves. it is a two pin gun i think it was like my gen. 2 g22 with the gernade grip. i like the grip of it too.i don't care for the new grip, gen 4, i would stripple mine if i had one. mine is like the post 41 gunlove.

could not find sn. no. BWNxxx in the listing of year mfg. maybe around april or may of 1996. according to the listing
I believe there are 2-pin (trigger pin and trigger housing pin) and 3-pin (trigger pin, locking block pin, and trigger housing pin) guns. I think the third and smaller locking block pin was added above the trigger pin somewhere along the time the .40 was introduced - but don't quote me on that.

My G19, ADTXXX is a Gen 2 - 2-pin (as above; no locking block pin).
According to my reference material the BWN series were made in May of 1996.

My reference book is The Complete Glock Reference Guide from plooma productions.
