is it possible to convert a glock 17 9mm, to 40 cal without any problems? i know i'd have to switch barrells, and mags, but i'm concerned of damage.

You'd have to switch barrel, mags, locking block, slide, and ejector.

    It's easier to convert a G22 to shoot 9mm than a G17 to shoot 40s.

For the time and expense I'd just buy a used G22 instead. Buy the time you buy all the new parts to convert you you could pick up a used or LE trade in G22.
