    FNG on the Glock scene.

Bought a used G17 the other week. I believe the weapon is a early 1990 model.
I'm reading here and there about recalls. I don't know if this weapon has been upgraded and not sure what upgrades were instituted.

And, is there a link somewhere to completely strip the slide. Looks rather simple, but contrary to my wifes opinion, I like reading directions.:)

Can you Glockers get me up to speed?

    Thanks in advance.

Try the "free tech info" available on Glockmeister's site. Lots of information and instructions with pictures.

If your G17 jas only two letters in the beginning of the serial number, like WB123US, then it is eligible for an internal parts upgrade if it has not already received one. Glock Factory Armorers will be glad to clean, inspect and upgrade your pistol at any GSSF Match. There is one in Anderson, SC in April and Statesville, NC in September.

    Roger, Thanks Danny.

Can I send it in to Glock too? If so, whats the normal turn around on that procedure?

    cheaptrick,

If you bought your Glock 17 from a gun shop then it's a possible police trade-in. If that's the case there's no need for any armory service as the up-grades are already there. Unless you really want to completely strip the slide and clean it isn't necessary. I use "Gun Scrubber" and do a firing pin check. Other than that I find it's unecessary most of the time.

    Thanks, guys.

My serial number on my 17 is APSXXX.

    Does this mean anything?? Age?

Thanks again for all the help.

I took the slide apart today. VERY easy!
I'm a 1911 guy and appreciate the simplicity of Glocks!!:)

Serial Number APS does not need any internal upgrades. They are all there already.

Glock will gladly inspect your Glock and replace any worn parts free. Your only cost is shipping to Smyrna, GA. Call 1-770-432-1202, Waranty Service Department, for shipping information. Service is very quick.
