My G17 guide rod keeps bending to the point of breakage. Usually hald a centimeter from the end (trigger end) I tried installing a T.H.E. metal rod/spring. The gun would fire, but not chamber a new round. I would have to remove the magazine and reload the round in the magazine. I checked with my defensive instructor and a local armorer. I am putting the guide rod in correctly. Also, to be sure, I had them put it in.

"Usually hald a centimeter from the end.."

    Can you explain that part?

The OEM guiderod is bending with the OEM spring?

the guide rod curves (spring naturally follows the curve) about half to one centimeter from the thick end. this end is the one closest to the rear of the gun. when it breaks, it is not the tip that snaps. it is at the point of the bend. i will try adding a picture tonight.

this started happening before i changed any stock stuff. however, there is a G17 extended slide stop, mag release, and disassembly thingy up front.

Hmm, have you ever put any lube on the outside of the barrel lug?

Was this gun bought new or used?

I would contact Glock, they'll send you a new recoil assembly. And they may suggest you send the pistol in to be gone over.
