Hello. I'm looking for input on modifications for my G17. The pistol will be used for IDPA, and IPSC production. I have a Ghost 3.5 connector, and Heine sights already. I plan on a stainless guide rod, and unsure what recoil spring weight to use with primarily Winchester ball ammo. Anything else I should address?

A stainless GR will move you from SSP to ESP for IDPA.

AN ISMI 13lb is a good starting point for that load and gun, time it then adjust as needed. The most benificial mods you can do to a stock glock is sights (heinies are great) a trigger job (not just parts changing) and finding the proper spring weight. There are other things you can do but those are key.

If you wanted to go all out and get all the bells and whistles check out the link.

Ditto CGR, good sights and a reasonable trigger are key. An excellent trigger is even better as it allows you to do the same things with less effort.
Personally, pull the stock trigger about 50,000 times, and it feels great! Well, normal, anyway...
Hey! Any 1911 feels like dropping an electron off the grid now (way, way too lite)

Is there any non-captive guide rod/spring set up I can use and remain legal for SSP?

ESMC, just cut the tip of the stock guide rod, and use what ever spring you want. The rule only says the guide rod must be of the same material as the factory..., not the spring
