G17 1st gen cut down to accept G26 mags?

So I recently got a G17 1st gen here on GT in trade. After inspection of the frame and all the parts (which are all black) No issues showing up. The last owner said he had it for sometime now (think it was like 2 years or more) with no issues but was just bored and wanted to try something different. The bore looks to be in excellent condition as most glocks do. My 3rd gen G22 probaly show more wear in the barrel. No box and nights sites so old that they no longer glow.

My questions for you my fellow GT er's?

    1. Do I send it back to Glock for any upgrades internally and keep it stock? (of course change the sites and maybe a oem slide extended slide lock) I notice prices havent really changed as of much for any generation. People who are looking for one maybe will pay top dollar to get one, but you have to find the right person. I wasnt really looking to sell anyways. I have a G17 4th gen already.

    2. Or do I send it off to have the frame modified and chopped to accept the G26 magazines. I'm only 5'05 and my hands are kinda small so fit isnt an issue. I've seen it done with G19 magazines but I should be able to conceal a little more of the grip with a smaller magazine.

    3. Has anyone here done this? My concern would be creating a heavy barrel effect being longer with such a smaller size magazine well.

    Thanks for your time.. :wavey:

If they find something wrong with the frame, they will replace it with a Gen3 frame or they may very well replace the whole gun with either a Gen3 or a Gen4. If you really like the Gen1, I wouldn't send it back, I'd find a local Glock Armorer to look it over and do any necessary upgrades.

I wouldn't do anything to the frame of a Gen 1. But, that is just me.

I've been looking for a better picture of the pencil barrel on a glock but have only found 2 small ones? How can I tell if I have it or not? Any help would be cool. Thanks in advance...

man don't chop it! shoot it! they are getting really hard to find but are still great shooters, HD, CCW just like a newer G17. keep it the way it is and save your pennies for your next one. don't ruin a classic. if you can call a Glock a classic.

If you do want to chop a G17 do it to a Gen 3 or 4 but not the Gen 1, some people like the chops, to each his own.

Please don't chop it!!! Trade it if you must for a new G27 and get a LWD 40/9 barrel. Don' screw up a Gen1.

Oh, definitely cut it up. I encourage everyone to do anything they can to ruin first gen Glocks so that mine will be rarer.
