    That reminds me of a great short story I read in grade school, but have not been able to find since then. It’s called A Man of Peace. The main character reflects on his time in boarding school and the fencing class he took. This main character has a brash friend/classmate who shows up the fencing instructor, in effect beating the instructor in a match.

    The brash friend goes on years later to become dictator of some fictional Latin American country. The dictator is then shot in the back of the head by an assassin.

    I probably don’t have all the details right and don’t remember all the themes, but one theme we were learning at the time was irony in literature.

    Man, I have to look for the story again.
