I've got some web space that comes with my broadband service and wanted to use it to host images, but am having problems.

Running WISE-FTP, can log into the server and upload but when I go to the url of my site I get this canned "set up your own webpage" screen with links to help with pagebuilders like frontpage and ftp programs.

how do I upload pics and set it up so I can link to them like I do with photobucket?

any advice is appreciated, I'm an ftp/html virgin.

    end of line

put them in a sub folder, then you'll probably be able to browse to them.

Well, you can upload pics, but they won't render in a browser. They can be clicked on and viewed that way, or you can link them to forums...like this one.

You need to use something like Mozilla's Composer or Frontpage to build a complete web page, then FTP that up to your webspace.

    You just KNEW there'd be a catch, didn't you?!;Q ;f ;a ;f

Seriously, just jump in and get your feet wet.

You won't think it's that tough after you get your first page running smoothly, trust me.

    GL and have FUN!!

if you just want a list of pics, you can probably delete index.htm or index.html

also, if you have a folder named something like "public_html" be sure to put your files in there.

    tried that, didn't work....

there is a public folder, I can upload to hit but still can't figure out hotlinking.

ah well, I'll just get frontpage and give it a try.

NVU is a new one out there. It is made by the folks at Linspire, and is cross-platform, being based on the Firefox code.

I haven't gotten it to really satisfy my needs, but you might be able to get some use out of it.
