I turned the tv on yesterday morning, and the local weather girl is talking about 'frozen fog' conditions.

so I called the boss and asked to take a 1/2 day vacation. ;)

the conditions were not near as nice as 2 years ago when everything was covered. plus, by the time the sun broke through the clouds so I could get some blue sky backgrounds, I was almost out of time.

    anyway..

    taken with D50, 18-55 lens.
shot in RAW. converted with PS.

I bracketed many of the shots so that I might use them to try to learn HDR. since I'm homebound for the next few days, I'll have some time to experiment.

I really like these. Good job! Number one is my favorite for both composition and color. What tint is that?

thanks, Fred. not sure what you mean by 'tint'?

    didn't do anything special.

Hmm, well on my monitor #1 and 2 seem to have a slightly magenta or violet cast, while 3# displays as a true black and white.

Yeah, I see the tints too but they don't take away from the shots to me.

Wow. Those are incredible! 1, 12 and 13 are my favorites.

hmmmmm, I shot these on 'auto' WB. now that I think about it, I did use the WB 'eyedropper' on a couple of those by placing it on the snow, can't remember which ones, though.

later on today, I'll redo those first two in 'as shot'.

welcome to the world of 'trying to adjust color with red/green color blindness'. ;) (which is why I rarely try to adjust color)

it wasn't a problem when I was shooting film, because the lab did it for me. ;)

Don't get me wrong - I really like them the way they are BECAUSE of the tint. For me it adds to the mood of these. I wouldn't change them at all.

And you tried to convince me there are very few reasons for me to shoot film :tongueout:

     :wavey:

I've been doing a little of that lately. been experimenting with the 'channels mixer/lab color/etc...' method in PS. takes a little more time, but the finished product is better. ;)

No. 9 is cool but should be cropped. They are all good.
