Anyone know of a cheap but useful tool to use when trying to install a new front sight on a Glock 34?

Have a set of Warren / Sevigny sights coming and I feel comfortable about the rear sight removal but the front one seemed 'interesting'

The only decent front sight tools that I know of are:

    Aro-Tek
    AmeriGlo
    Glock Factory

You can get a 20% discount on the AmeriGlo by entering "GSSF" in the discount area.

buy a 3/16 inch socket driver and grind the outside diameter down with a dremel to fit through the hole on the bottom of the slide. I picked one up at ACE Hardware for $3.00. Works like a charm.

    I think it's a 3/16.

You might contact Dawson Precision. Their front sights come with a cast metal tool for installation... you might ask to buy one from them. They'd probably be willing to help you out and from the looks of the tool it's probably pretty cheap.

I'll check the free, little Ameriglo tool and see if it fits through the hole in my G17L. If it does, I'll send you one free.

According to Butch, the hole for the G34 has a hole diameter of .313" and the Ameriglo tool is .25. The hole for the G17L is only .235", so I don't know what would fit that.

I can attest to the fact that the little AmeriGlo front sight tool does work on a G34 - that is what I used to install mine. :wavey:

Brownells sells a socket made for their gunsmiths screwdriver but it fits any screwdriver with interchangable tips.
