Katie Borst walked into the Village of Clifton Springs Court crying. She wouldn't answer any of our questions, but friends there told us the wrong person is facing charges. They claim Borst is taking the wrap for someone else and just wants her kids back.

Borst pleaded not guilty to assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Pre-trial release was denied. She's being held in the Ontario County Jail on $5,000 cash $10,000 bond.

The 22-year-old Clifton Springs mother is accused of breaking her 13-month-old daughter's leg earlier this month inside her home on Broad Street.

Two days later State Police say she took the baby to the hospital. Doctors discovered the girl's lower leg was healing from a previous break and Borst had no explanation.

As Borst walked out of court tonight, she mouthed the words, "Please help me. Please," to a man and woman in the courtroom.

Borst also has a 3-year-old son. Police say he showed no signs of injuries. Both children are now in foster care.

Borst is due back in court April 20th.
