Anyone ever get a chuckle out of some of the free ads on craigslist? Most of them are understandable. People giving away furniture or looking for new homes for pets. Alot of them are just people looking for free labor or trying not to pay for havings stuff removed. My favorite today was the " Free Bees" ad. They are living in a jet ski on somebodies property and they dont want to pay for bee removal. I think the most common ones are " Free Dirt" or " Free Firewood." All you need is a backhoe, two laborers, a chainsaw, a trailer, and a heavy duty pickup truck to get all the free dirt or firewood that you can haul. Anybody got any good ones from their region?

Mostly garbage or something close posted. Have gotten some good deals. Once got an isuzu diesel engine ( in parts ) for an 80's ranger. Sold it to another guy a few months later for $2,600.

Free dirt or free firewood would be popular in my neighborhood.

I check it out a few times a week. You can find some decent deals on weekday mornings after mom and dad go to work and leave their 20-something drug addicts kids at the house.

The ones that make me the most curious are the people who offer little items for $5 or $10. You're going to create an ad, answer questions and potentially meet someone at your home for a few bucks?

    One of many.

Green and white Lazy Boy couch, extra comfortable! Was used as a porch couch for the past year, no moisture, no mold, no pets. Has a small tear on one arm and could use a good cleaning, just surface dirt and dust, couch has plenty of life left.

I should post this free bed I saw near the Salton Sea last weekend.

    P1200447.JPG

I pulled over to see how my girlfriend was doing (her first time on a bike) and my battery chose that particular instant to give up the ghost. How convenient, there just happens to be a bed handy. Gave her a place to sit while I waited for someone with jumper cables to come by.

Clean, dry, must have just been dumped. More comfortable than the bed in the cabin we were renting.

You laugh about that mattress, I ran over one one night in my bus. It wrapped around the rear axle, touched the exhaust, ignited and burned the whole bus down to the skeleton.

Most likely what happened was some hillbilly was moving it in the middle of the night and it fell off the truck and was lying in the middle of the interstate. I hit it at about 60 mph. Looked like a cardboard box, had traffic on both sides of me, no way to swerve to miss.

Used to get some chuckles out of the Rants/Raves section but some ******* has taken it over and if there are any posts on there that disparages anything liberal, then he/she deletes them using several fake IP addresses. CL has shown no interest in putting an end to the shenanigans, so, meh...

Funny you say that. Here is a pic of my hillbilly neighbors burning their couch. They burned the mattress after that.

I love the free section. I answered an add for a free bumper pool table the day after I moved into my new house.

I went to the address they gave me and it was a mint condition Brunswick slate topped table. They also had a complet high end living room set and a good quality futon and rug, all that rustic outdoor kind of stuff you'd find in a rich hicks vacation home with the pine trees and bears and stuff.

I set up my living room and got a sweet pool table for free!

Most of it is junk but there are some gems on there.

As a hobbyist beekeeper, I know we're always looking for swarms to capture and bring home to our apiaries. Some beekeepers even "pay" the swarm donor a token of honey in thanks, so if there are future swarms, they'd receive first dibs to collect.

Naw, it was in direct daylight for hours before we got there. They only come out in the dark.
