image.jpeg Went to local shop today and found a 1076 with 3 mags and box. He said it had been in the safe for years. Now it is in mine!

Those were made for the FBI and Kansas city police. The FBI ones had no mag disconnect. Lot of them go for $800 and up

    Congrats:cool:

    The 1076 is a great pistol/10MM.

Order yourself a Wolf Recoil Calibration Spring Kit for it. (Available at Midway) if you plan on shooting a wide range of loads/power factors, you'll be glad you did.

    Congrats, that looks really clean.

I've found the 3rd Gen S&W to be one of the nicest shooting 10mm pistols.

Nice find, lucky! And yes, get a spring kit for it, by this late date I would expect the recoil spring is going. Maybe not, but it couldn't hurt.

Kentucky SP was using them around same time as well. iirc, the way they were built for the feds resulted in issues with them becoming inoperable. I seem to recall reading an instance where an agent had been carrying one on duty and only during a range session discovered it wasn't working.

    regardless, nice acquisition, cs.

Good pistol in 10MM. Not knowing it's history a new recoil spring makes sense. Buffer Technology use to make a buffer for these S&W Large Autos too.

Nice find. Maybe a year ago or so I remember a guy having three different S&W 10mm pistols, I am thinking a 1076, 1006 and 1066 if I remember correctly, at a show. Each had a box and looked in very good condition and if I remember he wanted ~4000 for the three.

I saw one at a gun show over the winter that looked like it was dragged behind a truck and the guy was asking $750 for it. Congrats that one looks brand new!

Got a chance to shoot the 1076. It was very enjoyable. I was amazed at how short the trigger reset is. It ate everything and was accurate. Just wanted to share. Thanks for the replies.
