    I want to.

I was there the day they breathed life into the 765 when she was fired up after her restoration. I still have a small chunk of coal from her tender.

Believe their excursions run on Norfolk Southern tracks. At the moment NS is using that loco, 4501 from the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, and 611 from the Virginia Museum of Transportation in excursion service.

Now if they can just get 1218 back in service...

    On my bucket list.
The engine would be breath-taking to observe.

It's funny this thread popped back up. I was looking though my pictures last night, and found some from when they fired the old gal up.

She was up here in MI a few years ago and with her Sister the 1225. Trainfest was pretty damn cool. They even brought in the 4449 Daylight

2005 was when they had the 765 fired up the first time after her restoration. So long ago the pictures were taken with a 35mm film camera.

The last set of pics were from Trainfest 2009 or 10.

That must have been an incredibly fun time. Still running this past summer.

    Both events were quite memorable.

At Trainfest, they had a few little saddle tank engines, as well as a small Baldwin, and the newly built Leviathan.

It brought in thousands of train buffs, and was so large. The local media was doing flyovers with helicopters.

The first three pic are mine, but the last two are not.

Also very nice - I wish I could have attended that. And I see some slight irony in a coal company having a tank engine.
