I won't eat anything that comes out of the Indian River. The seatrout and redfish are full of worms when you clean them.

Someone likely already mentioned this but in The US virtually all sushi must be flash frozen to something like -70F. That kills all of the nasties.

Worms in saltwater fish is pretty rare and if the sushi chef is doing his or her part, they would see any large-ish ones. I don't eat raw freshwater fish, including salmon because they are more prone to having worms. You probably eat as many bugs in any other food you consume including poultry and beef as any fish so if this freaks you out just quit eating altogether. Did you know you're also covered in mites breathe them in pretty regularly?

Check your local Japanese grocery store for fresh wasabi. Not cheap though. Last week it was $160/lb, so thumb sized root is about $20.

several years ago, on another gun board, an account disclosed he pulled a worm from backside while taking shower; yep - sushi. iirc, dr. prescribed wormer or something to that effect and a day later he posted up results, which was kind of anti-climatic as it appeared like a single broken up dark strand...

    anyway, so what's for supper?

Believe me, you are welcome to all the uncooked crap you eat. You can have my share.

God gave us fire for a reason.
