So I was out today with my brand new G35 and Fobus paddle holster. On two stages my magazine fell out after firing the first round. After looking closer , there was a divot being rubbed off in my holster from my mag release. Apparently the holster activates the mag release when holstered, and any form of "twisting" when drawing caused an empty mag to shoot out of my gun.

Not fun at all! I have pics and video to post up later.

Just drill a hole where the release rubs.

The above mentioned advise works like a charm.

My friend had troubles with his Fobus Paddle so he switch to a Blade Tech and I switched to a Blackhawk Serpa 2 to avoid the same.

I'll be hitting it with a dremel tonight to relieve the area. I was shocked that happened! I'm now unoffically known as "mag drop". There's no indoor ranges where I live that allow drawing from a holster which is a bummer, and I normally leave all mags locked up when practcing draws.

I might pick up a serpa level 1 or a blade-tech though. I already had to loosen the fobus up with a lighter after giving myself a wedgie and ripping my CR speed belt off (while scratching my side up pretty bad).

I have to say, the simplicity and reliability of my new platform keeps me smiling!

It is the factory extended mag release. At first I thought somehow my grip was causing the issue since I'm relatively new to owning a handgun with an extended mag release.

    Welcome to GT.

YOU got yourself DQ'd. The fact that you were using the wrong holster for the job was YOUR fault.

Switch to a Blade-tech or Comp-tac holster. They are much nicer. Most people switch eventually.

I am a big fan of Comp-Tac Kydex Belt Holsters for IDPA and USPSA. I also like I can get everything they make left handed.

Here's a picture of the gun as it sits in the Fobus paddle holster:

I didn't notice this at all until I got home, the edge of the paddle depressing the mag release:
    <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/pEtap9QJyU88i_2-Mpzo-A?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_WyczhVLzRvc/S7jSHMvnO8I/AAAAAAAAAec/3uSmNT9Pc-8/s144/DSC01033.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/DoubleWestern/GlockSteelShoot04032010?feat=embedwebsite">Glock Steel Shoot 04032010</a></td></tr></table>

Here is the "groove" being worn in on the holster by the mag release:

It was a local steel shoot, I was DQ'd for having "faulty equipment".

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm looking at Comp-Tac, Blade-tech, and COM holsters today and will probably order a replacement.

The best paddle I've ever used was Comptac. There are some other good ones, but the overall engineering of the comptac paddle is my favorite.

    I love Comp-Tac products, I carry my G22 in an M-TAC.

But for range and especially competition use, I prefer the Blade-Tech Dropped and Offset belt holster. It pushes the grip away from the body, and lowers the holster itself a bit for a more natural draw.

I'm 6'3" and with normal belt holster, I gotta lift my arm up a lot before I can even draw, the Blade-Tech Dropped & Offset lends itself to a faster draw when your hands are hanging normal at your sides.

Sorry to hear that- how'd this DQ you?

    opps- see this:

    That's feather legged.

I had a Fobus and G23 combination I shot for about 7 years, this never happened to me once.

Did you closely check out the gun and holster together before competing with it?

I know that Fobus advertises the GL2 as for the G34
    http://www.fobusholster.com/index.php?p=compatibility_chart&manufacturer_code=Glock
but, that much gun sticking out the bottom is just a recipe for disaster...

I drew a G34 out of at GL2* paddle hoslter and had the front sight catch on the holster and rip it from my hand. Went spinning like a top all the way to the ground about 8' in front of me. I got myself DQ'd for "dropping' the gun, which I did.
