I can highly recommend the Islander in Islamorada.

Keys are expensive. Get ready to be shocked at the prices of places to stay.

What's your budget? What do you like to do? There's everything from hole-in-the-wall-semi-affordable to way-too-expensive-for-my-ass in the Keys.

There's diving, snorkeling, clubbing, shooting (let me know if this interests you and I can direct you to the right place), sex (gay and straight), etc. What suits you?

while i dont condone homosexual conduct in public, i dont think its funny to talk about shooting somebody because of who they sleep with.

im sure you meant this as a joke in poor taste right?

    You can't carry enough ammo.

And don't complain when they shoot back.

Yes I did....I don't condone shooting people for who they sleep with either....just a joke. It's the EOD for me, and it was in poor taste.

My appologies to anyone I offended.....

You definitely have to stay in Key West at least one night. There's a place right on Duval Street called La Concha Inn that's pretty nice. If you're planning on staying in the same place for like a week I would look into renting a house. There is a ton of them available down there. And you've gotta get breakfast at Blue Heaven in Key West. Lobster Eggs Benedict and a blueberry pancake! If ya need a tour guide let me know. My dad, brothers, a bunch of buddies and I do a mancation down there every year.

I drove through them last year when I visited the Ft Lauderdale area. It was my first time in the Keys and it was only for the day. The most fun my family had on the vacation was the jet ski tour around Key West. It was about $400 (two jet skis with two people on each). It was awesome, pricey but awesome. IMHO you have to check out the tour.

Kon-Tiki "resort". I have stayed there a couple of times. They have a boat ramp too. Bungalos/rooms/houses are all in pretty fair shape (as of 2004 anyway). I would call them as their site is a little hectic with all the different setups they have. BOOK EARLY anywhere you want to stay since stuff books up fast there.

Be sure to go and see the Mel Fisher Museum. Lots of interesting stuff in there. The Aquarium is also nice.

I say either Islamorada or Marathon, I've been to Marathon a few times and it is my favorite.

I love La Concha. Right in the middle of everything. Park your car and be done with it. Upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking Duvall. Check out the roof top bar at sunset amazing. Send the women on the guided ghost tour and the fellows hit the strip club for a few hours.

I haven't been there since Christmas of 1984, but at that time, Bahia Honda State Park was a cool place to go. They had a hiking trail/nature walk that took you down a totally natural beach and wildlife was everywhere. I think it's on Marathon or possibly Big Pine Key. Well worth seeing as it was in those days, but I have no idea what it's like now. I've heard the water around the keys isn't as clear as it used to be back then.

Take money. Take MORE money. Make sure the wife brings money. Any friends, they need money.

As long as temporary poverty later isn't a problem, have MUCH fun, buy 0 t-shirts, and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
