Big Plus One here. While I find the documentaries of the battles that won the war interesting and exciting, it's the microcosm, stories like this that makes it simply riveting for me.

There many, many stories of extreme heroism like this and "The Last Stand Of The Tin can Sailors", etc. that made the big picture turn out like it did.

God them all past, present, and future.

    Wow, really great story.

Seventeen jap fighters attacking one B-17! That's the worst odds I've ever heard of.

Amazing that any crew, much less the plane, made it back.

Tough plane and tougher men. We owe them all a debt we can never repay.
