KEY WEST, Fla. -- Residents in the Florida Keys are being asked to take precautions as a wind chill moves through.

The National Weather Service in Key West issued a wind chill advisory Saturday for the area. It's in effect until Sunday morning.

Cold temperatures and strong gusty winds could produce chills of 30 to 35 degrees in the middle Keys, and wind chills in the high 20s in the upper Keys.

The temperatures Saturday afternoon were expected to reach the lower and middle 40s. It was expected to get even colder overnight.

Meteorologists advise residents to protect tropical plants or pets which may be susceptible to colder temperatures. Those venturing outside should dress accordingly.

    +1

Climate changes over time but mankind isn't the cause. It changed before we arrived and it will change after we're gone.

It's a good thing the National Weather Service issued an advisory so people don't get caught out without their snow tires and tire chains.
