Just got back the pictures of my turkey I shot this fall and thought I'd post one.
Only four more months till turkey season starts here. Can't wait!
But, only a month til the applications are due ;f ;f
Nice bird! How long a beard?
It was fall season so its a hen...it actually did have a nub of a beard...I'd say 1/4"
The bird flushed about 30 ft in front of me while I was on my way through a hayfield on the way to the woods and I shot it out of the air ....anyone else ever shot a turkey while it was flying?
Are you hooked on turkey's yet. I was after my first season! Have you tried spring season?? It's a blast! I should get back from the desert just in time if things go right. Good shot by the way!;a ;a ;a
Vaulter, was it making that crazy sound turkeys make when they take off in flight?;P
Ah, so you CHEATED!!!
;J....... yeah, I have too.
Cool! Congratulations as I am ery jealous. I hope to get mine this spring as I did not do well last spring and never got out this fall. Later
My one and only turkey I took with a .22 LR rifle while it was on the ground. Tasted just like Butterball!
Great photo and good job.
Around WA state, hens are off limits. Why, I don't know.
So few hunters actually bag any turkey that the risk to the hatchings is quite low.
Plan on heading an hour north of Colville WA near BC for this spring's hunt. Clears out the chumps and I hear of flocks in the hundreds up there
Vaulter, great looking bird. 1 to be proud of. Just 1 little suggestion. Next time you take a picture of you and a turkey, have it on the ground BESIDE you. Dude, looks like you're doing something unmentionable to it.
Just something to think about.
Well he does look happy. The turkey looks like she's just laying there.
I am going turkey hunting the 1st week of april and I hope I have your luck.
One time when my dad and I were dove hunting a hen kicked out. After spending all day hunting those fast doves that hen looked like a 747 that was overloaded. I was really tempted to blast her but I am a law abideing Pa hunter. The game wardens here have more power than the police so as a youth you learn WHATS IN SEASON AND THAT IS IT. BTW we both got hens last fall season also. So Kudos to you. Rich
That's a turkey? I thought it was a canary!! Just kiddin! Nice first bird! My first turk was also a hen shot out of the sky! She was about 30 yards up and came down like a 747! Spring is the best though, when you hear that gobble your blood starts pumpin!!congrats!;f
But be warned. Turkey hunting is a disease! I got my first bird in 1987 and was hooked for life! It is great!
