It's a sad state of affairs when high-tech Americans can't build a simple gun that people in third-world countries can.......with a mallet and nails......inside a cave.....and suffering from malnutrition.

AMEN! All across the middle east one man in a tent can manufacture them with no more than basic hand tools, a vice, a few files, etc. The need for quick profit(GREED)outweighs the want to do the job right........here that is!

Weird, I always see Romanian, Chinese, Bulgarian, Russian, etc. built AKs in the Third World. Got any pics of Cave Man an' his builds?

The gunsmith with his tongue cutoff could probably hand copy a Noveske AR15 in a day
with a file and scap metal. I'm not saying it would be exactly the same obviously.

Those Pakistani weapons are of highly questionable quality/reliability, so I have heard. Great article on Afghan AK's in the G&A special issue that talks about this.

Somewhere I read what I think I recall as a US soldier asking a afgan fighter what is the prefered country of origen among the afgan consensus as far as weapon quality goes and he said Russia. With all the Russian guns captured during the 1980s in Afganistan, I can see why they might believe this if its true.

You know I really believe the Pakistani AKs' are better than the author gave them credit for. I seriously doubt the rifles blow up after a few rounds like he said

Ok, if having oversized gas holes wasn't enough, a Lancaster rep was quoting saying :

Lancaster rep called me this AM and gave me the reassurance they will expedite the repair. Rep said its a bad batch of trunnion rivets. ALso they will try to check if gas port is oversize. I hope they check everything to make it work like an AK 74 should be
