Surprised me today.

Shot the new LC9 for the first time.

cliffs:

VERY accurate for a mouse gun

Trigger is no problem...long, yes...but not a problem at all

Cycled FMJ and HP's without a hitch

Accidentally released the mag twice...NOT GOOD:steamed:

Verdict:
Undetermined yet
Might add a CT laser and keep it unless I can't solve the mag release problem

first 7 rounds with the new LC9:cool:

Interesting problem with the mag release, mine seems quite secure. Had nothing but good results. Put the CT on it and not sorry. Nice picture but you may want to blur the serial number.

Hmmm. 125 various 9mm rounds through mine with no problem with magazine release. Only 1 FTF in 125 rounds for unknown reason.

I like mine. It's not my favorite pistol but has its place.

Well, there ya have it.

How do we fix this, friends and neighbors?
2,000+ through mine and releasing the mag takes a very deliberate action on my part. Maybe the catch spring on yours is defective? I'd compare it to another LC9 and see if the catches feel the same.

1,600 plus rounds through mine, fired by ten different people. No problems at all.
My mag catch is somewhat hard to push. It definitely isn't going to release the mag accidentally.

Maybe we have different size hands? Just brainstorming here.
The mag catch is higher than the bottom of the trigger guard. The middle finger doesn't ride any higher than the bottom of the trigger guard. My thumb isn't close to the catch, but my hands aren't big. A long thumb could rest on it, but the surface of the button is angled away. Also, on mine, and M2's, the button is actually pretty hard to press down.

I rented one. I like my lcp a lot but damn it has a long trigger pull. A lot more than I prefer anyway. I'm still in the market for a single stack 9.

(might have my gunsmith fit a more firm mag release spring)

Not trying to start a Forum argument, but some have suggested their fingers are no where near the mag release when they hold the LC9.

I shoot a 1911, so below are pictures of my "muscle memory" hold.

During recoil and/or rapid fire it sure looks like one's fingers could very well contact the mag release.

It doesn't seem possible to make small hold adjustments in a gunfight.

And, if I have to change my pre-learned grip to shoot the LC9, well, that ain't gonna work for me.

What am I missing here?

I'm holding my LC9 right now and I can't force my finger (or thumb) to even just touch the mag release.

If I move my finger tips forward to the front of the grip (couldn't shoot that way) I can just touch the mag release but can't begin to push the button in.

I guess it's just the difference in the shape of our hands.

Same here. My hands are medium sized. My buddy has giant gorrilla hands and he shoots my LC9 twice a month when we get togeather and he has no problems either.

The way the release button is sloped forward, it's almost flush with the grips surface. That combined with the firm spring sure makes it seem like Ruger went to a lot of effort to make sure that the mag release requires a pretty deliberate acion to activate it.

Looking at Doc540's pics, with the one hand hold, no part of his hand is any different than mine in relation to the mag release. As for the two hand hold, I'm not sure what the left hand is doing there, but I immitated it just the same, and no matter how I squeezed my hands, I couldn't come close to activating the mag release.
