Hey guys. This my first post here and wanted to share my new Glock story. Not to start a Kimber bashing thread but, I had a Pro Carry II for a little while that gave me fits. it was worked on numerous times for FTF, FTE, and brass to the forehead so, I finally sold it after putting about 600 rounds through it. I started reseaching Glocks here on the forum and the more I read, the more I wanted one. I went to my local Cheaper Than Dirt store and the Glock rep happen to be there. He explained the differences in the models and I decided that a Model 17 Gen 4 was the one for me. I bought it and 200 rounds of Estate FMJ and headed to the range. After 200 rounds, the gun performed flawlessly with not one issue. The accuracy was amazing! I love the feel and the trigger on this gun. Very light recoil too! The only thing that I would consider upgrading are the sights which I have a little trouble seeing. Some hi-Viz style sights would be much better for me. All in all, I am extremely happy with my choice. Its a great gun and a bargain compared to the Kimber. I think I am a new Glock fan for life! There will probably be a Model 26 Gen 4 in my future. Cliff

Hi hearsedriver, welcome to Glock Talk.

It's nice to hear from first-time Glock owners, especially a former 1911 owner who writes about the Glock grip and trigger, "I love the feel and the trigger on this gun." You don't read that very often. :)

Congratulations on the new Gen4 G17 9mm. You can expect many years of shooting enjoyment with that Glock pistol; the model that started it all.

P.S. Do you really drive a hearse?

Welcome. That was a good decision to replace an unreliable pistol.

The number 1 priority in a self defense gun is reliability.

I put hundreds of rounds of various ammunition types through my Glock 23 before making it my EDC. If it wasn't 100% reliable, I'd still be carrying my 1911.

Thanks! Yes.... I drive a hearse. I'm a funeral director . By the way, I bought a ROG leather IWB holster for it off of EBay and it is the nicest holster I have ever owned . Very comfortable and high quality . A deal at around $50.00.

Hello and Gratz on the G17 G4! I am a new owner of one myself and LOVE it! Absolute bargain of a weapon, it joins my full rail 1911 and gets WAY more range time. Welcome to GLOCK:cool:

Congrats on the new G17, and good call on the G26. I've found that my fingers fit the grooves the same on 17/26 when compared to 17/19 or 26/19.

Enjoy your new Glock, and welcome to GT!

Welcome and congrats on the new Glock!! My eyesight is getting a little problematic, too. I suggest an Ameriglo Fiber Optic front sight. They come in Red or Green. I replaced stock front sight with a red Ameriglo FO front sight. Amazing difference. I also blacked out the rear white sight. Works great! Easy to install. Height that will work with your stock rear is .165. $25 here

Introduction forums are pointless IMO...the only people that go there are new people. Plus, he had a glock story to tell, so theres no need for the forum naziism.

I recommend XS big dot night sights, theyre really good sights, and contrary to some people's opinion, they are easy to be accurate with.

Oh, and congrats on your purchase!

Congratulations on your first Glock. I did extensive research before I purchased my first pistol because I thought it would be my only gun. I wanted reliability, stopping power and a tested CCW. I settled on the Glock 27. I now have seven Glocks. Make sure you budget accordingly. :)
