Hi everyone,
Great forum, thanks for all the great info. I'm in California awaiting my first Glock due to the 10 day background check. This isn't my first firearm but I've always wanted a G19 and I took it as a challenge to find one during this time.

Assuming CA doesn't lock down all gun stores (don't get me started on that one), I will have a new OD gen 3 (that's the only generation we can get in CA due to the laws ... don't get me started on that either). Anyhow, I know it isn't a great price but I paid $599 for it. When I asked if they could do $499 the salesman said "not in CA". Thankfully I got it thinking "it probably will be worth a lot soon". I've been tracking the price of the exact gun in OD on gunbroker and it is going for over $750 + shipping + FFL transfer! That would be about $900 out the door.

I was in touch with another retailer who will get one in stock in a few weeks and quoted me $799 for the exact gun in OD. I asked if he could do MSRP and this was his reply:

"Got to ride the wave. MSRP in about two months. Cant be on the give away program."

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but the effect of CA gun laws is causing crazy prices. I know its my fault for not getting it earlier, but ugh...

So my questions is whether the gen 3 Austrian made G19 in OD is rare? Even though they had none in black which I originally wanted, I fell in love with the OD when I saw it in person and couldn't resist.

If any of you have CA approved guns you want to get rid of, I think you can easily sell for a profit. Just look at the prices for the 80% glocks on gunbroker.

CA gun laws sound good to those who don't want to own guns (I get it, I don't agree but I get it). Now that so many actually want to own them for their protection they are in for a rude awakening.

Off my soapbox.

I used to live in California myself. I was born and raised there. I spent most of my 24 years of military service stationed in various duty stations within California. However in 2016 I just couldn't take all of the bullcrap laws they were passing and moved to a free state. I now live in Arizona, which God help us from turning blue due to all of the democrap Californians moving here.

Anyway, I think you got a good deal on that gun. It isn't just in CA that the panic buying is happening but nationwide. Gun shelves are thinly stocked everywhere I go. Even online the prices are crazy due to the demand. You got a good deal considering the times. Congrats. Post some pics when your 10 day waiting period is over, and you actually pic up your gun.

Don't know if it's rare, but if you stalk the online gun sites lately, you see all sorts of Glock colors pop up as retailers try to keep product in stock.

I just paid $600 for my 19gen5, if it ever ships. Nowadays ain't the time to haggle or shop around.

Congrats! Decades ago I lived in CA when I was in the USN and not into guns at the time. Now I'm so glad I moved back home to a free state after the Navy.

You will like it. I own Gen 3's as well as Gen.4's. I prefer the Gen 3's myself. I have never owned a Green one. I am sure you will like it a lot.
If you get a chance, escape from California and move to civilization. You will like the freedom.

Congrats on the new Glock pistol. Colored Glock pistols aren't as plentiful as the regular ones but I don't think they are rare. But in this pandemic situation we are in people who didn't even think of owning a firearm are scrambling to get some while they can. Grab as much magazines and ammo as possible. Prices for those items may go crazy, too.

I live in the socialist state of Hawaii and our gun laws are quite strict but not as bad as California. We have a lot of hunters here and isolated from the rest of the world. Started my modest collection years ago and I'm glad I did. Good luck and enjoy your new pistol. Be safe.

Welcome to GT. And to Glock. But like the cliche says - you can’t have just one. And a shame about California. There’s no other state with its bounty of natural beauty. My family lived there during the 1960’s, and I returned there later with my Uncle Sam.

Except for politics, it remains my favorite state. And yes. I’ve traveled through all 50. Most of them more than once. Y’all be well.

PS - Miles Davis - Kind of Blue?

Congrats on your new gun. I couldn’t deal with being in CA and deal with all the absolutely stupid la s they have been passing lately. They will water the 2nd as down so much you will be lucky to be able to buy a rock to throw in a few years. Either that or just keep putting taxes on them that are so high no one can afford to shoot anymore.

I can think of no finer jazz recording than Kind of Blue. If there’s a close equal, it would be by Miles, or Mr. Coltrane. And I really like the albums with “Cannibal” playing with Miles, ‘Somethin’ Else.’ And with Coltrane. ‘Cannonball and Coltrane.’

A great time for modern jazz. I don’t go much past ‘A Love Supreme.’ But really like the early stuff. Dixieland, Louis, Swing, Benny, Bebop. And of course, Mr. Parker.

Glocks and Jazz. What a combo. Enjoy that pistol invented by a man who had never produced a weapon prior to this world-beater. What a story. Be well.

Glocks and Jazz... that should have been my username

A Love Supreme is great. Always liked Dave Brubeck Quartets "Time" albums

Had a chance to go shooting with it today - flawless. Recoil not bad at all (I'm used to a 22lr Browning Buckmark (love that gun!) but the trigger weight combined with the recoil is causing me flinch badly. I need to practice dry firing with dummy rounds.

Love the gun and it was quite clean (to be fair, I only shot 50 rounds though)
