First Experience With Indian Food

    Had my first taste of Indian food today. We have our first ever family owned Indian restaurant now. I got to sample Tandoori chicken and grilled fish, and beef shishkabobs.

    It was mildly spiced, but the flavors were fantatsic!

    I think I'm in love! I didn't get to try the curry or the gravy chicken or bread, but I will next time.

    And Indian food lovers here?

    Love it. Learn the regions and associated spices. I can eat garlic butter nan bread anytime.

    A vindaloo that will remove paint is to die for.

    Lamb Vindaloo is my favorite, followed by Tandoori, and Chicken Tikka Masala. I also love Palak Paneer, Chicken Pakora, and Paneer Pakora. And of course, Naan bread is awesome.

    Another vote for lamb vindaloo washed down with a Taj Mahal or Kingfisher...the food of heaven. HH

    I just cooked some Chicken Tikka Masala tonight for my wife and me. Love Indian food. Try to find some good spices and cook it yourself. It is fantastic and will have your entire house smelling like heaven.

    Talk to the owner about the differences in the regions and types of food. He can give you a logical order to start trying things. Maybe he could do a sampler type meal for you.

    Also, Indian food is easy to cook. You can get great info from a local Indian market.

    I like the scalding hot foods from the Goa area. Lots of fish there, coconut, lime and hot peppers!
    I make naan all the time. A pizza stone heated up in the oven or grill does the trick just fine.

    NO THANKS I will stick the local butcher I know how the beef is raised handled and prepared. I'll take a hamburger on the charcoal grill, fresh lettuces slice of onion and tomateo on it, and a couple butter dipped corn on the cob w a dash of salt. Good enough for me any day

    Beef? In an Indian food restaurant? That's got to be a first.

    On a side note, I'm a fan of Indian food. I love using Yelp to find the places during my travels.

    It was a soft opening. He had to got to Atlanta to get the good groceries. NE Alabama is not the hot bed of Indian culture.

    The lamb, quail, and goat will be here soon.
