Could not resist the temptation! In a moment of weakness I "pulled the trigger". Should be showing up at the FFL tomorrow.

Rock Island 1911, in the 10mm flavor. Got the Ultra FC HC, 16+1 baby!

Mags for this are pricey, was hoping to find some for closer to 25-30 bucks a pop, anybody have any ideas?

Who makes aftermarket barrels for these things? Wondering what kind of conversions are around for this.

I'll be hitting the range later this week, will be curious how it will shoot compared to the G29.

If it's double stack then the mags are proprietary. You're stuck with factory mags then.

As far as barrels go, I'm sure that plenty of custom barrel makers can whip one or two out for you. Bar-Sto is usually the one that's top of my head.

Unlike more modern designs like glock conversion barrels generally won't just drop in and work in 1911 type pistols, usually some amount but of fitting involved and they will be much more finicky to run especially in a double stack gun, the fitting and operation of extractor and ejector is far more critical in this design

Report back after you've run a few hundred rounds through it on how it's holding up / grouping, ect.

Just picked it up yesterday. This thing is a chunk of BEEF compared to the G29. If the 10mm doesn't get them a pistol whipping will!

I will probably pretty much leave it as-is, with the exception of the sights. I think I am going to see if there are some ghost ring setups available for it. Don't like what it came with.

Should be putting a 100 rounds or so down range next week.

Very few if any manufacturers producing ghost ring sights for a 1911.
There was a hex sight available about ten years ago, have not really seen much since.

Conversions, this isn't a Glock. And doublestack 10mm 1911s are not common. Doubt there are any other mags available

3 mags full at the indoor range yesterday. Regular old armscor 180FMJ. Absolutely ZERO issues.

50 rounds downrange at 7 yards. WAY more accurate than I have been with my G29 at the same distance. Even more accurate than I have been with the G29 at 5 yards. I have ran maybe 400 rounds out of the G29 and am getting better each time, but it's still strange that the 1911 is that much better the first time shooting it.

Same ammo in the G29 has a bit of kick to it. In the 1911 it feels like I am shooting 9mm. Maybe the G29 recoil is affecting my aim....

Time to run some of the hot stuff in both.

    Great to hear!

Be careful.........1911s are more addicting than Glocks

Congrats. I have the Ultra FS, single-stack. I consider it a bargain, for the price I paid. Great fun to shoot as well.

I would leave it stock and enjoy it. It's not a gun I would put a lot of money into.... but in stock form it's a lot of gun for the money.
