Man, that was fun. Well, the second half was. The first half was another mountain of paperwork while being yelled at. Deputy Warden of a nearby prison made a speech, as did the Warden of the prison our academy is connected to. The K9 team came in and did an attack demonstration with two of their German Shepards. One on the leash, one off the leash. It’s one thing to see on TV and a whole other ball game to see up close. We all laughed when the K9 Captain yelled to the CO about to get bit “Wait! Drop your gear and throw on these prisoner scrubs, we can’t have them thinking they can bite COs!” Then we did a bunch of drill on the PT pad and were sectioned off into classes of 30, which will be our classes for the remainder of the academy, and met our two instructors. Tough as nails, but it’s clear they want to do their best to prepare us for what’s to come. Some final stuff was issued to us, then we were dismissed. A couple days off and then back at it again.
