Quick newb question. I field stripped my G22 today and noticed the firing pin was sticking out of the firing pin channel. Is this normal? I've had my G22 for a few months now and have field stripped it several times and never noticed it before.

    Thanks for the input.

Do you remember pulling the trigger before removing the slide?
It is normal and it is not sticking out at all when you put it back together...right?

    Yup, quite normal.

The firing pin spring does not hold the firing pin forward, it just slams it forward.

If you dry fire it with the muzzle pointing up, it probably will not be sticking out of the breechface, if you dry fire pointing down, it probably will.
