I have an in-law whose daughter has a problem with telling the truth, and is telling her mother that she was working as a FF in Broward County, but was laid off due to the economy. MY BS filter is on red alert. Who here would know if they have had any FF layoffs?

Here in Tulsa, OK we just had ~145 FF, and 155 PD layed off because of "economy"

Broward County gave hire dates to a rookie class and then postponed the day they start because of budget. Coral Springs has 33 firefighters that they need to find a place for because a city they previously covered (Parkland) wants to go with Palm Beach County. There are also a few cities who have taken back stations from the county and the county now needs to find a place to put that manpower. To my knowledge there have not yet been any layoffs in Broward but if things dont improve it is heading that direction.
