I've been a Carhartt fan for years because of the durability of their pants and jackets.

I got a catalog from Duluth Trading Co and they are pushing pants made from fire hose material.

    Has anyone tried these?

Are they comfy? Are they as durable as they claim?

A friend likes them, but not the break in period.

Does the fly have a reel instead of a zipper?

    My step-dad has two pairs.

He LOVES them. He's unnaturally hard on his clothing, too.

He hasn't had them long enough to wear out yet, though. Only a few months. But they've already surpassed the lifespan of "box store" denim jeans.

I know nothing about them, but the third picture of the pants being modeled is hilarious.

Sounds like the original Sears Toughskins I had to wear as a kid. They were stiff as a board and stayed that way.

I'll get a kick out of that every time I think of it at work tomorrow.

    Unless we have a fire.
