I think I am finally done tweaking my first AR. I got the rear BUIS yesterday, and can't wait to go try them out. For once I can't think of anything else I still want to add to the gun. Here's what I've got so far:

    Colt LE6920
    Aimpoint PRO
    DD non-FF quad rail
    Magpul Miad Rear Grip
    Magpul rail covers
    Magpul MOE VFG
    Magpul rear BUIS

Any suggestions or comments are welcome! And here are the necessary pics:

If it were mine I'd loose those rail covers and get some nice surefire low profile ladders. Other than that very nice!

Oh she shoots great. It has about 8k rounds through it. I wonder what kind of cowhitness the mbus will have with my aimpoint...

With the QRP or QRP2 on there, it should be a lower-third I believe.

I'd get a LaRue mount, but I'm also biased. I used a QRP for 3 years without issue, I just hate the knob. :) It's bad enough in armor, worse without.

I prefer index clips for low-pro rail covers, the KAC type can eventually fail from enough on-off, the metal clip will wear enough to where it can be an issue.

Get a sling, lube it and run 300 through it and see how it performs. Just because it's a Colt doesn't mean it's perfect, so keep an eye on things.

Looks good! Move you BUIS back to the rear though, it works better. You'll get lower 1/3ish. It won't be true lower 1/3 but pretty close. I replaced the mount on mine with a ADM QD mount and love it. I also prefer index clips to rail covers, makes for a thinner profile. Depending on your uses you might want to consider a light. I use a TLR-1S and love it. Cheap, light weight, and works great with no mount needed.

As I said earlier, it's got 8k rounds through it.

Ever consider running a sling through the slot and over the stock? I can't see any purpose of using the stock sling location except for "sling arms" carry. You already have a side swivel up front. Might as well make use of it for practical use.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean? The gun has 2 slots for the sling, one at the end of the handguard and one on the stock?

Basically you loop the sling through the slot on the stock and over the top. It is the equivalent of having the QD location on the CTR and SOPMOD stock, but with the GI M4 stock and sling. You drape it across the chest and is in an advantageous position when ready to fire from the low ready.

You'd need a side-sling attachment up front. Then set up the rear sling point like he said (effectively wrapped around the buffer tube).

Thats how I ran my issued 3pt sling and later a BFG Victory.

Nice rig. Sling it up good and maybe add a flash hiding comp (PWS or battlecomp)

I'll definitely try running my sling that way. I was thinking about picking up one of those Midwest Industries sling mounts that mounts it to the base of the buffer tube behind the rear grip and then adding a vtac sling. I've got 0 interest in a light, as I always shoot outside when it's light and want to keep the weight down. I've got a couple surefires that I can use pretty well along side a pistol though.
