Hello from Rockwall TX. My woods carry gun has always been a 6" 357 mag. I wanted a semi auto pistol and have been doing tons of research. First decided on the 10mm round because of comparable magnum performance. Next was platform. The Glock 20 has a reputation online of being the best shooting 10mm on the market. Never owned (or fired) a Glock or a 10mm and off I jumped with a leap of faith. After 200 rounds on Christmas day I can say "I AM IN LOVE!" At 15 yards I was consistently 1-2" high and 1-2" left. I am a lefty and did switch out the mag release "felt like a gun smith or something" after some online video. I ordered the Glock adjustable rear sight today to help get in the bulls eye. Thanks to you all for all of your post that allowed me to make a great decision on my new favorite side arm!

Before you blame the sites, put a few more hundred rounds downrange. You might find that the accuracy improves as you and your new Glock get to know one another better.

And I almost forgot. Congratulation on the new G20. You made a good choice!

excellent choice.

G20 is my woods/trail choice.
fun to reload for as well.
impressed by what i have found.

welcome, enjoy.
lots of good info here, mixed in with a sprinkling of pure unadulterated BS.
lots of really good folks!

Thank you. I will spend some more time at the range before swapping sights but in the end I will swap them to gain every advantage I can. I am now shopping for bulk ammo since I don't feel a: comfortable to trust my inexperience at reloading and b: I really don't feel that I shoot enough to justify the setup cost. If I get a bulk order of a thousand rounds that would last me at least 2 years.

I think you fail to take into account the addition factor!

I do need to take a look into reloading. If I loaded for me and my three sons then maybe I could make it make since for me. They all shoot 9's and 45's so their ammo is easy to find. I did find a 1000 for under $300 and I am smiling from ear to ear about that!!

Hmmmm. 500 rounds divided by 52 weeks in a year equals 9.6 rounds per week.
Unless you rarely practice with your new prize, you're probably greatly underestimating your anticipated ammo requirements. Just sayin' :kidding:

And :welcome: to GT!

I have a G20, same reason you do, for the woods. I put a Lone Wolf barrel in it and carry Underwood 220 grain hard cast lead in the dark ol' woods. I love the gun, never had a hiccup with it. I'm brandy new to this forum but have been a Glock fan for a very long time. I'd bet you will become one as well. GREAT CHOICE I think! Merry Christmas!

What was the reasoning for the barrel change? Hard cast bullets, Glock smile, longer barrel, or other?

I changed the barrel because my understanding is it would shoot hard cast lead bullets without a hitch and perhaps the OEM barrel would not handle them as well. And there is a "cool" factor with a little longer stainless barrel .. ha! A longer barrel equates to a bullet accelerating for a smidge longer period of time ie. little more muzzle velocity. Out of the ten, not sure it matters much. Lone Wolf claims the lock up is better and the barrel is more accurate than the OEM barrel. They both work just peachy in my personal experience, my main rationale was carrying the hard cast bullets in the woods and avoiding possible drama if it wasn't necessary. The old Boy Scout thinking I suppose. I watch Hickok45 on you tube, he did a video where the stock barrel had some problems with hard cast. And that's my take on it, right or wrong. My G20 is a superb handgun. Yours will be too.

Thank you for the feed back. I have seen the video you mentioned with the bullets tumbling. I will be using the Underwood 154gr hollow points for woods, deer hogs etc. I will have to let my wallet cool of a bit before I address the cool factor.
