    Well, traded into one...

Of all places, my local car/racing forum, I had posted a gun for sale and was contacted about a trade+ cash.

    When he said a 3" Smith&Wesson, I was interested. So I did the trade and got a cherry S&W 640 3".

It had some Hogue rubber grips on it, which I replaced with esome Herrett smooth cocobolo magnas. Took a polishing cloth to it and wow!

Gotta say I am really happy with this wheelgun! To bad noone told me that there is a mutation of Black Rifle Disease that applies to S&W revolvers. I'm already looking at others...

Forged lockwork, nice! Where'd you score the high horn Herrett stocks w/ medallions? That ol' girl sure is pretty in her new dress.

Thanks, yeah, I really like this gun. I have a Tyler T-Grip ordered for it also, to complement the magna grips. This looks like it may have had just a couple of cylinder fulls fired. No carbon anywhere and the insides are spotless.

The 3" barrel really feels pointable. That and the stainless really makes this gun balance well. The Herrets I found on GunBroker...
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=163038988 They were brand new grips. i found one set on there that was a S&W take off, but the price was higher than the Herretts, and the cocobolo really looks nice on the stainless.

Someone posted the original ad for this model for me.

I won't be the first person to make an offer for it, as long as you'll let me be the last. ;)

NIce -especially with the wood. My wife's grandmother has a similar 3" nickel bodyguard (M38) (that she used to shoot at a burglar a couple of years ago).

I've only seen one other like that, and wished like hell I'd bought it.

    Very nice find.

Looks a little odd with that 3 inch barrel but I have one of the snubbies and 640s are nice. Congratulations on acquisition of such an unusual variant.
