This teen is standing, talking to someone. He absolutely does not stand still: his legs are moving, he's kicking something (table feet, in this case), his hands are touching anything and everything within reach, his upper body keeps on constant sway. All the while he keeps talking in a conversation with someone. I'm tired just watching him, making sure he's not going to break something in the computer lab (this is a study hall).

This kid is 15-16 years old. Male. It must be related to hormones or something: I don't recall ever seeing a girl do this, but I see quite a few males do it. I'm sure I was fidgety at that are, but this kid takes it to new heights.

Fidgeters are right up there with the foot draggers. I do have to consciously avert myself, lest I be annoyed. Cell phones have helped a bit as people of that sort get dragged into them - you can tell their type by how they hold and look at their phone (phone very close to chest, held perpendicular, neck bent sharply with their chin on their chest, phone inches from eyes).

I recently saw the worst fidgeter ever at a tire place. We were the only two in the waiting room. This kid, early 20's, comes in with his backpack and starts watching TV. Then out comes the phone. Then out comes the Ipod. Then out comes his laptop. Here he is, shaking and moving all over, changing channels with the remote, listening to his music, typing away on his laptop and checking his phone screen every few seconds.

My wife fidgets all the time. Even in her sleep her fingers and feet twitch. Give her some papers to read and the rattling will drive you nuts. It's pretty annoying when I'm trying to sleep or just chill. Or drive.

Hormones, physical or mental issue, too much sugar, maybe a combination of all?

Sounds like the guy seated next to me on a late night flight home a few months ago. Except he was in his 40's. I would have liked to knock him out.

My oldest (13) doesn't fidget, but he likes to touch everything within reach. Kinda bugs me sometimes. My youngest doesn't seem to be able to sit still while sitting next to me on the couch watching a movie, but she's 8 so I'll cut her some slack.

My middle child (11) like to sing and do percussion on whatever's in front of him, and that can be trying at times, especially when he's supposed to be doing dishes and the water is still running! I swear, that boy loves to waste water, especially hot water. Kitchen, bathroom, doesn't matter.

I work with a bad fidgeter. I always call him on it. "You're j-foxing again, knock it off."

Some of my students were real bad. Caffeine was the most likely culprit. They lived on the stuff. Coffee, energy drinks, caffeine gum.
