Deputies said Terryn and Morgan McNeil, 16, who were dating, had planned to drive to Ohio to commit suicide. McNeil took a handgun and money from a relative’s home, and the two began driving north on Interstate 95.
They pulled into a Pilot gas station to get food, when a trooper noticed the vehicle’s headlights didn’t work. Lt. Channing Taylor approached the vehicle and began speaking with McNeil, who was the driver, when Terryn suddenly opened fire.
Taylor was hit in the shoulder. He fired one shot at Terryn, killing him.
