Has anyone had problems with this ammo not going into battery? My G30 sf absolutely hates these. Out of 10 rounds, I had 4 fire, the others failed to feed. They get hung up on the feeding ramp. It shoots rounded tip fmj 230 gr hard ball and other HP just fine. It just refuses to eat this Federal Premium Gold medal match fmj semi wadcutter. First time buying it..and last time. gonna try to post a video of it

Yes I actually tried firing the rounds..because your hand doesn't have the power of racking the slide to chamber it. I just saved some time to show that they didn't even want to cycle. Anyone else ever tried using this ammo?

It ran fine in my friend's Wilson Combat 1911 also..but his G30 ran into the same problems..hmm. Maybe it's made for 1911's? Dunno. Eager to hear if any Glock owners have had success with it. Thanks Berto.

His Wilson was almost 3 grand..it BETTER eat everything..hehe. Glocks are solid. Ugly, but function well. It's just this dang ammo it doesn't like.

My Dad made some reloads with wad cutters. They FTF every time in my glocks, even in my 1911. I have hundreds to unload.

Those rounds are made for 1911 paper punchers with custom throated 1911's. These style bullets are not for your average semi-auto unless they have been throated, which I do NOT recommend for your Glock.

Remember, Glocks are what you show your enemies and 1911's are what you show your friends.

P.S. Why are you using that garbage Hornaday defense ammo in your Glock? Especially a 230 gr. in a short barrel. Get some 200 gr. Gold Dots.

This comes up in the reloading section a few times a year. Let me save you guys some time... Glocks won't feed semi-wadcutters.

Has it been done successfully? Yes, but unless you're really into kicking water uphill, I'd move on to a round nose or truncated cone bullet.

Darn shame, too. A good cast semi-wadcutter is one of the more accurate bullet designs out there. Given good speeds, they make a good hunting bullet too. Nice clean hole.

    :agree:

I did some testing with a 185g JSWC type bullet (can't remember just exactly who's it was) and this did not turn out well at all. Almost every test round jammed in the G21, this type of bullet does not feel at all into a Glock barrel.

Glocks don't feed SWC's. Even if they feed them, they won't eject the empty because it gets hung up on the shoulder of the fresh round below it in the mag.

OP, you are a negligent discharge waiting to happen. All of the racking and trigger pulling with a table full of ammo is going to give you plenty of material for a future 7 minute video.

when I used to reload with those bullets, had the same problem in my 1911 colt, never used them again.

I would have thought that Glocks could feed anything. Wrong, I guess.

SCmasterblaster... "I would have thought that Glocks could feed anything..."

Generally that is true but because of the construction of those SWC the squared ridge on the edge of the bullet gets caught up on the feed ramp of the .45 Glock Barrel.

I tried everything to get them to work... deeper seating, etc. and with no luck, they either jammed when trying to climb the ramp or the brass would jam and not eject.

Moral of the story... let me quote Zombie Steve... "Let me save you guys some time... Glocks won't feed semi-wadcutters."

I'll have to remember this if I ever get a G21.
