Are these things all that? Currently carrying the Hornady Critcal Defense 9mm. I like the Critical defense for the low recoil and functions perfect in my Glock 43

debating whether to change to the HST ?? :dunno:

Saw an ammo test vid and these things were very impressive !

What do you shoot the best, that might have a bearing on what you carry.

I shoot the Critcal Defense better than Gold Dot +P, Hydro Shoks.
have not found any HST ammo locally to try
Critical Defense ammo has alot less recoil that these two

Hornady is a good company, but my experience is that their ammo has velocities well below what is advertised. That may be why the recoil seems so low with your ammo.

I was happy with the soft recoil of some Hornady .45acp 200 gr TAP ammo a few years back, so was carrying it. One day when I was checking some of my reloads over my chrono, I shot some of the TAP stuff, too. Instead of the 1050 fps advertised (if I remember correctly), I was getting about 870! I called Hornady & the tech checked my ammo lot; he told me their tests showed it was low, too (?). I never got a good answer from him about why it was still sent out if it tested low.

They sent some replacement ammo to the dealer where I bought the ammo. When the dealer called the new lot number to me, I phoned Hornady again. Guess what?... they said that lot had tested below the advertised speed, also (????).

That's reassuring. Nice to know Hornady gives a crap about the quality of product leaving their factory.
