    Must be Obama's fault.

Well, it seems that's pretty simple to fix - no paychecks until it's paid up.

    NEXT!

    Or better yet:

Divide the total sum over ALL federal employees. Deduct that much from everyone.

    Publish the list of scofflaws.

    Problem self-solves. :)

Why should federal employees be treated any different than private sector employees?

Yep; do it like a loan shark, just enough to pay the ongoing "vig". Keep them paying forever or until they come up with the entire amount.

JMS you are correct treat them as a non-fed would be treated. seems they somehow are not being treated the same.

i owed $5,000 this year and ponied it up. why not make payments with the ira? my accountant told me that the irs is the worst lender since they start to look into other aspects of your life and that can lead to a worse situation whether you are guilty of anything or not.

how is it we have a billion is back taxes? are these folks paying the interest penalty the irs charges ? or getting a pass other would not get?

i would like to know more and would like them to pay their taxes before the statute of limitation run out and they pull a gietner.

    This is outrageous.

Certainly they withhold Federal tax from their paychecks.

They must be making lots of money from side jobs (while they are supposedly at work).

    here is what perplexes me.

if i owed 10k in federal income tax i must either pay it in full at the time i submit my taxes

    or

apply for an extension and still stroke a check for the $10,000 estimated taxes owed

    or

borrow the money and pay it in full

    or

set up a payment plan with the irs

so how is it 98,000 fed empoyees owe an ave of $10,000 each and they jhavent paid the money by one of the scenarios above?

i couldnt get away with that!

OK, so you work for the Fed Govt. I am talking about tax deadbeats who work for the Fed Govt. who somehow owe $10K. How does this happen?

They receive generous pay with lots of benefits.

What is their mindset? Where do they think their paycheck comes from?

NO garnish each INDIVIDUAL for the amount They owe , no community think needed they each individually will have the remainder of their checks this year garnished for an equal portion of the amount owed, the longer they wait the larger the per check amount.... Better get crackin

Really? Why should I pay for others mistakes. Part of my hiring process was a check to see if I owed federal tax. I pay my fair share then some.
